This exhibition is part of the project ‘Andean Pottery Knowledge: Ceramic Production, Circulation and Use in Southern Ecuador and Northern Peru’, sponsored by the Arcadia Fund and the British Museum’s Endangered Material Knowledge Programme. Based on fieldwork carried out between 2022 and 2023, the aim of the exhibition is to present the shared features and local particularities of domestic ceramic production in a region rarely considered as a whole. Today’s political boundaries have artificially severed a series of links that have united the people of the region since ancient times.
