Gender relations in prehistory

A new article by Anne Augereau has been published in the open-access journal ‘Mondes sociaux’.

Gender differences often materialise in a variety of areas: clothing, ornaments, food, origin, and so on. Applied to the Linearbandkeramik Culture (LBK), the archaeology of gender makes it possible to sketch out the differences in status between men and women and reveals an unexpected social diversity: dominant men, ceremonial women, common people, armed individuals and children, as well as their social roles, gradually emerge from this European Neolithic culture.
