Documentary ‘Premières notes’ : TV Broadcast and Radio Show on June 18th

,

The scientific documentary *”Premières notes”* will be broadcasted on Thursday, June 18th at 9 PM on France 5 and featured in the show *”La Terre au carré” on France Inter* on the same day.
This scientific and archaeological investigation offers a surprising journey into the past in search of the first musicians in history. Long before it became an art and a form of entertainment, music was a weapon, an ally of war and power, as well as a sacred language to communicate with the gods. At the dawn of humanity, it was likely the soundtrack of ancestral rites. By bringing millennia-old musical instruments back to life, deciphering some of the oldest musical compositions from Antiquity, or exploring the resonance of Paleolithic caves and the intriguing sounds of stones and stalactites, archaeologists, researchers, and musicologists reveal echoes of the past and allow us to hear humanity’s first notes.
A part of the documentary is dedicated to research on the earliest sound instruments identified in Southwest Asia: the Natufian flutes of Eynan-Mallaha.
