Becoming sedentary. When the hamlet of Eynan-Mallaha bears witness to the changing world

, ,

‘Becoming Sedentary’ presents the history of the sedentarisation of the last hunter-gatherers of prehistoric times in the Near East. The Eynan-Mallaha site in the Jordan Valley serves as the backdrop for this story, based on 70 years of archaeological exploration. Archival documents, artist illustrations and recent videos are combined to bring to life a narrative that links this shift in lifestyle 15,000 years ago to our current concerns.

A film made in 2025 by Fanny Bocquentin (UMR8068) and Paul Rambaud (MSHM), produced with the support of MSH Mondes, UMR TEMPS, the Institut Français and CNRS Images.
