The objective of this training course is to initiate the students to the technological approach of the animal materials used by the prehistoric men to shape their weapons and their tools. The teaching is composed of a theoretical part (composition of the industries, histology of the raw materials, identification of the technical stigmas…) and practical (reproduction of the techniques, exercises of reassembling by default…).
It is therefore an essential step for students wishing to work in bone technology or bone tracing, before being confronted with the analysis of archaeological material. It is open to all periods: Prehistory, Antiquity, Middle Ages… But it can also be of interest to students wishing to continue their studies in archaeozoology or human paleoanthropology because it opens the perspective of recognizing anthropic modifications on bone material.
Open to L3, Master and PhD students – Limited number of participants.
Application deadline: Tuesday, April 19, 2022
