Liliana Stalenq, Head of Administration, on welcoming new unit directors

On 30 and 31 January 2024, the Direction Déléguée aux Cadres Supérieurs (DDCS), in partnership with France Université and the CNRS institutes and delegations, gave some 160 new unit directors (DUs) the opportunity to meet, with the aim of learning more about their new missions together.

Liliana Stalenq, administrative manager of UMR8068 TEMPS and UMR8096 ArchAm, was invited to talk about her experience as a DU/RA.

Liliana is a senior research engineer. Her shared post has enabled her to work with eight DUs over a period of thirteen years.

At the end of her talk, she was asked for 5 pieces of advice for new DUs on the subject of DU-RA pairing:

1. Take the time to get to know each other well: the tasks of the RA, the scope of each person’s work, their respective expectations and constraints

2. Include the RA in the management team and in the unit’s governing bodies.

3. Establish an ongoing relationship of trust and exchange with the RA.

4. To entrust the RA with responsibilities within his/her sphere of action (delegation of signature, configuration of tools, etc.).

5. Include the RA in meetings to set up scientific projects that have an impact on the laboratory’s budget management.

“We are here to help you, to support you, so that you can carry out your research and manage the unit in the best possible conditions,” concludes Liliana Stalenq.
