Three films made by directors from the RUSHS Network (CNRS) share a common theme: filming in the field. Filming in the field can sometimes yield pleasant surprises, but also a few disappointments. How can these be overcome during filming and editing? How can the work of researchers be accurately portrayed?

‘Becoming Sedentary’ presents the story of the sedentarisation of the last hunter-gatherers of prehistoric times in the Near East. The Eynan-Mallaha site in the Jordan Valley serves as the backdrop for 70 years of archaeological exploration. Archival documents, artist illustrations and recent videos are combined to bring to life a narrative that links this shift in lifestyle 15,000 years ago with our current concerns.
A film made in 2025 by Fanny Bocquentin (UMR8068) and Paul Rambaud (MSHM), with illustrations by Pascaline Gaussein. This film was produced with the support of MSH Mondes, UMR TEMPS, the Institut Français and CNRS Images.
