    Prehistoric Weekend

    Site archéologique d'Etiolles avenue de la fontaine au Soulier, Etiolles

    As part of the European Archaeology Days, the Essonne Department exceptionally opens the doors of its Étiolles archaeological site, a true "Pompeii of Prehistory". A unique immersion in the heart of a 15,000-year-old Magdalenian camp.
    Through site exploration, collection discoveries, workshops, demonstrations, and hands-on activities, children and adults are invited to step into the shoes of an archaeologist and discover the daily life of these nomadic groups who once settled along the banks of the Seine.
    A friendly day to understand and explore the technologies, tools, and artifacts of Prehistory.

    Inspired by the book "Un jardin pour demain" by Gilles Clément and Vincent Gravé, this immersive sound installation tells the story of a gardener in search of his "Planetary Garden." Designed as a refuge nestled in the landscape, it offers spaces to walk, sit, lie down, listen, watch, smell, be alone or together.

    Bénédicte Souffi (INRAP) and her team are exceptionally opening the doors to the excavation site of the future Les Ardoines station. Discover an ancient flint-knapping site dating back to the Mesolithic period. Mediation workshops offer an immersion into the daily lives of the human groups who once inhabited this area.

    Pincevent (La Grande Paroisse, 77) European Heritage Days – Special ‘60th anniversary’ Open Day

    On the weekend of 21-22 September 2024, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Pincevent Archaeological Centre is organising an Open Day for visitors to the site. These days are also an opportunity to celebrate 60 years since the discovery of this remarkable prehistoric site, known for its many perfectly preserved Magdalenian levels, including vast campsites, and for having been the crucible of the palethnological approach.

    This Open House will take place between 10am and 6pm, with guided tours every hour, the chance to see experiments (flint knapping, hide tanning) and take part in activities (propulsor shooting, fire-making, digging tank for youngsters).
