Reproducing prehistoric stone cutting techniques

Reproducing prehistoric stone cutting techniques allows us to reconstruct the operational chain, i.e. the sequence of steps used by prehistoric humans to produce tools from raw stone materials. This reproduction, the results of which can be scanned and reproduced using 3D printing, allows us to reconstruct how the stone fragments found during archaeological excavations were removed during the cutting process by prehistoric humans. It also allows us to understand the various cutting techniques used (by pressure, percussion with soft or hard hammers). These techniques are often characteristic of the practices of certain groups of humans in certain regions and/or for certain periods, including recent or current populations around the world.
