ARTE, Gédéon production et Mission de Larsa

As part of the European Archaeology Days, ARTE and arte.tv will be broadcasting the documentary ‘Mésopotamie, la redécouverte des trésors d’Irak’ (1h30) by Olivier Julien (co-produced by Arte-France/Gédéon programmes) on 15 June 2024 at 8.50 pm, produced with the assistance of the Larsa mission (Dir. Régis Vallet).

After an absence of fifty years and against a backdrop of post-war reconstruction, the return of archaeologists to the major sites of Iraq heralds a new era in the archaeology of Mesopotamia. Now, with the technical resources and new approaches available to researchers, they are shedding new light on the appearance and development of the first cities, while working to conserve Iraq’s heritage.
