Current thesis project: „Lithic industry and techno-cultural trajectories at the crossroads of the 6th and 5th millennia BC in Central Europe“ (Industrie lithique et trajectoires techno-culturelles à la charnière des VIè et Vè millénaire avant notre ère en Europe centrale)
Direction in cotutelle: Anne Augereau (UMR TEMPS, Université Paris Nanterre), Doris Mischka (Friedrich Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg)
My research focuses on the study of the lithic industries of the first agro-pastoral communities in continental Europe (5250 to 4750 BCE). This spatial-temporal framework witnesses the fragmentation of the Early Neolithic Linearbandkeramik (LBK) into a mosaic of cultural entities. In particular, I will focus on two study areas in Germany, Bavaria and Saxony, to compare their distinct cultural trajectories with those of other European regions. The analysis will focus on reconstructing learning networks and the circulation of raw materials. The study will involve identifying raw materials and reconstructing the operational chains of production. To better understand learning networks, an experimental component will be included in the project to offer a better characterization of the preparation methods for detachment. Ultimately, the goal will be to understand the nature and impact of mobility of these first agro-pastoral populations on the cultural trajectories perceived by archaeologists. This overarching objective will be reinforced by addressing the various forms of mobility and their socio-economic contexts and the impacts of intergenerational transmission of technical know-how.

Project ANR MOBILITH – “Mobility and migration in Neolithic societies by the prism of apprenticeship networks. Lithic productions at the cusp to the Vth millennium BC” (Projet N° ANR-24-CE27-1795-01, led by Solène Denis): My thesis is part of work package 2 to establish the socio-economic context of production, analyze the circulation networks and characterize the learning networks.
